ACM India and IBM Research India Joint Webinar on Sustainable Computing
Saturday February 03, 2024 10:30 am IST
Sustainable computing along with green coding, is the practice of minimizing environmental impact in the design and usage of computer systems and software. It is an important topic for the computing industry to align with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) – to address the increasing challenges and opportunities in the areas of energy management, digital transformation, and social responsibility.
Focusing on Sustainable computing can be beneficial in following ways:
- Reduction of carbon footprint and greenhouse gas emissions.
- Lowering the operational costs and improving the performance of computing systems, by optimizing the hardware and software design.
- Fostering social and ethical values of the computing industry by aligning with the global goals of sustainable development.
ACM India and IBM Research India have jointly organized this webinar to spread awareness on Sustainable Computing across two main pillars:
1. Challenges and solutions for cloud infrastructure providers towards sustainable computing
2. Learn and adopt best practices in software development towards a sustainable software development process.
